The mission of Richards Middle School is to challenge students to become life-long learners with seamless, contemporary, and diverse learning experiences, which emphasize individual worth, problem solving, inquiry, and academic rigor.  Further, at Richards Middle School, we aim to prepare our students for their roles in a challenging, demanding, and rapidly changing world by developing international and cultural understanding.

About Richards

Richards was named for Mr. Walter Alan Richards.  Mr. Richards served as President of the Muscogee County Board of Education from 1950 until his death in 1961.  If the first letters of Mr. Richards' name are combined, they spell WAR.  That is why Richards' students are known as the Warriors.

Richards Middle School opened September 5, 1961 and was dedicated on January 1, 1962.

                                                        The school's principals have been:

Mr. Michael Johnson        1999 - Present
                                                    Mr. William Arrington       1982 - 1999
                                                    Mr. Edward Reed                1965 - 1982
                                                    Mr. Dewey Renfroe            1963 - 1965
                                                    Mr. Herman Dollar              1961 - 1963
