The mission of Richards Middle School is to challenge students to become
life-long learners with seamless, contemporary, and diverse learning
experiences, which emphasize individual worth, problem solving, inquiry, and
academic rigor. Further, at Richards Middle School, we aim to prepare our
students for their roles in a challenging, demanding, and rapidly changing world
by developing international and cultural understanding.

Richards was named for Mr. Walter Alan Richards. Mr.
Richards served as President of the Muscogee County Board of Education from 1950
until his death in 1961. If the first letters of Mr. Richards' name are
combined, they spell WAR. That is why Richards' students are known as the
Warriors.Richards Middle School opened September 5,
1961 and was dedicated on January 1, 1962.
